Abstract:

In recent years, due to the increase in noise pollution, active noise cancellation (ANC) has attracted significant attention. The application of ANC in headphones is particularly relevant, as they are widely used in several fields, such as aviation (e.g., helicopters) and noisy work environments. In this context, we propose a non-uniform subband implementation that incorporates a psychoacoustic compensation to focus noise cancellation on the frequency bands actually perceived by humans and place less strain on the loudspeakers. In addition, to address computational complexity issues, a delayless structure is considered. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is capable of reducing perceived noise in the frequency band of interest, achieving good performance with lower energy consumption than canonical approaches.
